What this trial studies
This feasibility project will enroll about 20 consecutive adults (18–65) with multiple sclerosis referred for neuropsychological assessment at Gävle Hospital to pilot integration of neuropsychological interventions into team‑based, work‑oriented rehabilitation. Investigators will collect data on cognitive function, work ability, fatigue, and well‑being and document how neuropsychologists contribute to multidisciplinary rehabilitation planning. The design is observational and emphasizes practical implementation issues, barriers, and preliminary relationships between cognitive interventions and work outcomes rather than testing a randomized intervention. Results will guide whether and how to scale this model in larger trials or clinical services.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18–65 with multiple sclerosis who are referred for neuropsychological assessment at the Neurology Department of Gävle Hospital, particularly those who are working or wish to return to work.
Not a fit: People whose work limitations are primarily caused by non‑MS conditions, those with very advanced disability precluding work, or individuals who cannot attend Gävle Hospital are unlikely to benefit from this local feasibility project.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could help more people with MS remain employed and improve quality of life by targeting cognitive problems that interfere with work.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies of cognitive rehabilitation and multidisciplinary vocational programs in MS have shown modest benefits for cognition and work outcomes, but models that explicitly embed neuropsychologists into team‑based work rehabilitation are less well tested.
