What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of a motor-cognitive exercise intervention delivered at home using eHealth methods for individuals with Parkinson's disease. The intervention combines motor training with cognitive training to enhance attentional and executive functions in participants at mild to moderate stages of the disease. Over a 10-week period, participants will be randomized into either an eHealth intervention group or a control group, with blinded assessors evaluating their physical performance before and after the intervention. The goal is to improve gait performance, increase physical activity levels, and enhance perceived health among participants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 50 and older with a diagnosis of idiopathic Parkinson's disease who can ambulate indoors without assistance.
Not a fit: Patients with significant cognitive impairment, severe mobility issues, or those lacking internet access at home may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve the quality of life and physical capabilities of patients with Parkinson's disease.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with similar eHealth interventions for physical activity in Parkinson's disease, indicating potential for success.
