What this trial studies
This study focuses on improving the care and decision-making process for Spanish-speaking Latiné men diagnosed with localized prostate cancer. It aims to engage 288 participants across various medical facilities, including 100 at Cleveland Clinic, to understand their unique perspectives and challenges. Through focus groups, the study will gather insights to develop tailored educational resources, such as Spanish-language videos, that address cultural and language barriers in treatment decision-making. The goal is to enhance communication and provide better support for survivorship issues like erectile dysfunction.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Spanish-speaking Latiné men over 18 years old who have been diagnosed with localized prostate cancer and have undergone radical prostatectomy.
Not a fit: Patients whose primary language is not English or Spanish, or those who have received treatments other than radical prostatectomy, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve the quality of life and treatment decision-making for Spanish-speaking Latiné prostate cancer survivors.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically targeting Latiné populations in prostate cancer survivorship, similar studies have shown the importance of culturally tailored resources in improving patient outcomes.
