What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the relationship between carotenoid intake from foods and the visual development of infants and toddlers. Researchers will measure carotenoid levels in the blood and skin to assess dietary intake and its potential impact on health outcomes. The study focuses on understanding how these phytochemicals, found in colorful fruits and vegetables, contribute to children's nutrition and overall well-being. By utilizing advanced measurement technologies, the study seeks to provide insights into the role of carotenoids in early life nutrition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are healthy infants and toddlers aged 3 months to 2 years who meet specific growth criteria and have guardians that can communicate in English.
Not a fit: Patients with diagnosed metabolic, absorptive, or endocrine conditions, or those with food allergies or intolerances, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of how carotenoid intake supports visual development and overall health in young children.
How similar studies have performed: While studies on carotenoids in adults have shown promising results, this specific approach in young children is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
