What this trial studies

This study investigates how sensory information processing, particularly auditory and visual, develops in healthy children and adults. The research aims to identify neurophysiological indicators of brain function and their evolution during normal development. By understanding typical sensory and cognitive processes, the study seeks to establish a baseline for comparing with individuals on the autism spectrum. Participants will undergo neurophysiological and neuropsychological assessments to gather data on these processes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are healthy individuals aged between 1 and 60 years who can understand and follow instructions.

Not a fit: Patients with known neurological or psychiatric conditions, or those with sensory impairments, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance our understanding of sensory processing in typical development, aiding in the identification of abnormalities in autism spectrum disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While studies on sensory processing in autism are common, this specific approach focusing on healthy individuals to establish normative data is less common and may provide novel insights.
