Impact of Isocinetism on the Disorders of the Spinal Statics of the Parkinsonian Patient

Not applicable Interventional University Hospital Center of Martinique · NCT04492345

What this trial studies

This study focuses on patients with Parkinson's disease who experience postural disorders, particularly in Martinique. It aims to assess the effectiveness of isokinetic muscle strength rehabilitation compared to conventional physiotherapy in improving postural stability. The intervention involves using an isokinetic device that allows for maximum muscle contraction at a constant speed, adapting resistance to the patient's strength. The goal is to enhance spinal muscle strength, reduce the risk of falls, and improve walking quality in these patients.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with Parkinson's disease or atypical parkinsonian syndrome experiencing specific postural disorders.

Not a fit: Patients with neurological conditions other than parkinsonian syndrome or those with significant comorbidities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve posture and reduce fall risk in patients with Parkinson's disease.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using isokinetic rehabilitation is established, the specific application for postural disorders in Parkinson's patients is relatively novel.
