What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effects of an 8-week strength training program on balance, neuromuscular performance, and symptoms in individuals diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Thirty participants will be randomly assigned to either a control group or an experimental group, with the latter engaging in strength training sessions twice a week for 50 minutes. Prior to the training, assessments will be conducted to measure symptoms, balance, and neuromuscular performance. Following the training, a four-week period of detraining will be observed to assess the sustainability of any improvements.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a medical diagnosis of fibromyalgia.

Not a fit: Patients with severe comorbidities, cognitive disorders, heart problems, recent surgeries, or those who have been regularly exercising may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved balance and reduced symptoms for patients with fibromyalgia.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored strength training in fibromyalgia, this specific approach and its outcomes are still being evaluated.
