What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of different interventions to help maintain weight loss after patients discontinue GLP-1 receptor agonist medications. Participants who have lost more than 10% of their body weight while on GLP-1s will be randomly assigned to receive either medically tailored meals, a subscription to the Noom® app, or standard lifestyle counseling. The trial will last four months and will assess treatment adherence and satisfaction among the different groups. The goal is to identify sustainable strategies for weight maintenance that could be more cost-effective than long-term medication use.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have lost more than 10% of their body weight while on GLP-1 receptor agonists and have stopped treatment within the last 30 days.

Not a fit: Patients with major psychiatric illnesses, substance misuse issues, or medical conditions that prevent them from participating in the dietary interventions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide patients with effective strategies to maintain weight loss without the need for continuous medication.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored weight maintenance strategies after weight loss, but this specific approach combining meal replacements and a mobile app is relatively novel.
