What this trial studies

The program delivers a 2-day, 1-night adventure-based training camp combining five outdoor activities with an educational workshop. Workshop topics include introduction to cocaine, cannabis and methamphetamine (ice), the health and legal consequences of drugs, available anti-drug services, and the AWARD model. Participants are post-secondary students aged 18–35 who speak Cantonese and can read Chinese. The project aims to create and sustain a peer network that can assist with current and future community anti-drug efforts.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are Cantonese-speaking post-secondary students aged 18–35 who can read Chinese and are interested in community anti-drug work.

Not a fit: People outside the 18–35 student range, non–Cantonese speakers, those unable to attend the in-person camp, or individuals seeking clinical treatment for active substance use are unlikely to benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, it could expand community anti-drug capacity by creating a sustained network of trained young volunteers.

How similar studies have performed: Other adventure-based and peer-education programs have shown modest gains in resilience and prevention behaviors but rigorous, long-term evidence for drug-prevention impact is limited.
