What this trial studies
This is an observational online questionnaire-based study enrolling primiparous mothers between 0 and 12 months postpartum who live with a spouse or partner. Participants complete self-report measures of perceived spousal support, parenting self-efficacy, and depressive symptoms via internet surveys in Turkish. Mothers with diagnosed neurological or psychiatric disorders or who cannot complete questionnaires are excluded. The study is conducted by Istanbul University - Cerrahpasa with collaboration from Acibadem University and recruits primarily from the Istanbul region.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: First-time mothers aged 18 or older, 0–12 months postpartum, living with a spouse or partner, able to read and write Turkish, with internet access, and willing to participate voluntarily.
Not a fit: Mothers with pre-existing diagnosed psychiatric or neurological disorders, those not living with a partner, non-Turkish readers, or those without internet access are outside the target population and may not benefit from the findings.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If a clear link is found, the results could help identify mothers at higher risk and inform partner-focused support programs to boost parenting confidence and reduce postpartum depression.
How similar studies have performed: Previous research has repeatedly found associations between low social support and higher postpartum depression and lower maternal self-efficacy, so this work builds on established evidence.
