What this trial studies
This intervention focuses on promoting mental health among adolescents in Nepal through a sports-based program. The pilot trial aims to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and utility of this intervention in community settings, while also evaluating safety and delivery methods. A household survey will be conducted at baseline and at the end of the program to gather data on its effectiveness. The study targets adolescents aged 12-19, both in and out of school, to ensure broad accessibility.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents aged 12-19 years, regardless of their school status or marital status, who reside in the study areas.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental illness or severe physical disabilities, as well as those planning to move from the study sites, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve mental health outcomes for adolescents in Nepal, reducing the prevalence of depression and anxiety.
How similar studies have performed: While there is a strong evidence base for treatment and prevention approaches, this specific sports-based mental health promotion intervention is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in similar settings.
