What this trial studies
This observational program offers sophrology and art therapy to adults treated in the hand and upper limb surgery and rehabilitation unit at Édouard Herriot Hospital. Participants who consent will be invited to take part in sessions as part of their post-operative or rehabilitation pathway while clinicians record uptake and practical issues. The team will collect patient-reported quality of life, feasibility, and acceptability data and will track functional recovery and return-to-activity when available. Findings will inform whether these non-pharmacological approaches are practical and acceptable for broader use in this patient group.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (18+) cared for in the hand and upper limb surgery unit who wish to try sophrology or art therapy and can give non-opposition/consent are the intended participants.
Not a fit: People under legal protection or those who cannot understand or express themselves in the required language are excluded and therefore unlikely to benefit from the offered interventions.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If helpful, these therapies could reduce lingering disability, boost patients' confidence, and speed return to daily activities and work.
How similar studies have performed: This specific application in hand and upper limb rehabilitation is novel with little published literature, although mind–body and art therapies have shown benefits in other rehabilitation and surgical contexts.
