What this trial studies

This study aims to improve the fabrication process of removable partial dentures (RPDs) for patients with partial-edentulism by utilizing an intelligent design software called SmartRPD. The software generates a metal framework design based on digital scans of patients' oral profiles, allowing for immediate analysis and design adjustments by dentists. The process aims to enhance accuracy, reduce time and labor, and meet the increasing demand for RPDs among the aging population. The final designs are then prepared for 3D printing, streamlining the production of RPDs.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals over 21 years old who are medically fit and have prior experience with dentures, specifically those with partial edentulism and stable occlusion.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of maladaptation to denture use or those with maxillofacial or mandible bone defects may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance the quality of life for patients by providing more accurate and efficient denture solutions.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using digital workflows in dentistry is gaining traction, this specific application for RPDs is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
