What this trial studies

This is an observational investigation of adults treated for Ménière's disease in the ENT department at Strasbourg University Hospital between June 1, 2019 and January 31, 2021. Researchers will review clinical records and available sleep-related data to look for relationships between vertigo severity and measures of sleep disturbance. Patients with prior intracranial surgery or degenerative neurological disease were excluded, and those with prior sleep medicine consultations were not included. The work responds to limited prior evidence and to French otolaryngology guidance that recommends attention to sleep in Ménière's disease.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults (18 or older) who were followed for Ménière's disease in the ENT department at Strasbourg University Hospital between June 1, 2019 and January 31, 2021, without prior sleep medicine consultations and without a history of intracranial surgery or degenerative neurological disease.

Not a fit: Patients who have had intracranial surgery, a degenerative neurological disease, or prior sleep medicine consultations, as well as people not followed at the Strasbourg ENT service during the specified window, are unlikely to be eligible or to benefit from this analysis.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If a clear link is found, it could prompt more routine screening and treatment of sleep problems to help reduce vertigo burden and improve quality of life for people with Ménière's disease.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies on sleep and Ménière's disease are few and provide limited or mixed evidence, so this approach is relatively underexplored rather than well established.
