What this trial studies

University of Padua students are randomly assigned to either a six-week psychological group intervention or a waitlist control. The intervention includes weekly group sessions combining psychoeducation and experiential activities to strengthen social connections and coping skills. Participants undergo a screening interview, complete baseline questionnaires, and are reassessed immediately after the program and at a four-week follow-up. The study focuses on students aged 18+ who can attend in-person sessions in Padova and complete surveys in Italian or English.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are University of Padua students aged 18 or older who live in Padova or its province and can attend all six weekly group sessions and complete questionnaires in Italian or English.

Not a fit: Students with severe psychological conditions needing immediate or specialized clinical care, or those unable to attend the full six-week program, are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If effective, the program could help students feel more connected, less lonely, and experience improved psychological well-being.

How similar studies have performed: Similar brief group and psychoeducational interventions for students have shown moderate success in reducing loneliness and improving well-being, though results vary by program and population.
