What this trial studies

This interventional feasibility project delivers a single-session, parent-focused online workshop aimed at modifiable predictors of body image disturbance in children aged 2–6. Parents recruited through an online platform will complete the workshop and provide feedback on acceptability and feasibility measures. The study will collect short-term measures of parent knowledge, attitudes, and home media/communication practices linked to child body image risk. Results will inform whether a larger, controlled prevention trial is practical and acceptable.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are adults (18+) living in the United States who are a parent or primary caregiver of a child aged 2–6.

Not a fit: Parents of children older than 6, non-caregivers without responsibility for the child’s media/exposure, or families who cannot implement recommended changes may not receive benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the workshop could give parents practical skills to reduce children’s exposure to harmful appearance messages and lower the future risk of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating.

How similar studies have performed: Related parent- and media-focused prevention programs for older children and adolescents have shown promise, but single-session, parent-focused interventions targeting very young children are relatively novel and less tested.
