Single-session myofascial release for text neck
Exploring the Short-Term Effects of Myofascial Release in Text Neck Syndrome
This trial will see if one session of myofascial release can quickly reduce neck pain and improve neck movement in adults 18–40 who use mobile devices more than 3 hours a day and have text neck.

What this trial studies
This is a single-arm, single-session study at Karabük University applying four standardized myofascial release techniques to the cervical and upper thoracic regions delivered by a licensed physiotherapist. Eligible participants (aged 18–40, using mobile devices ≥3 hours/day, with at least three text-neck symptoms) will have pain intensity (NRS-11), cervical range of motion, and the modified Neck Disability Index measured immediately before and after the intervention. The intervention sequence includes Single Arm Pull, Lateral Neck Shoulder Release, Thoracic Transverse Release, and Anterior Cervical Release. The study focuses on acute, immediate changes after one treatment rather than long-term outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults 18–40 who use mobile devices at least 3 hours per day, meet the diagnostic criteria for text neck, and can safely receive manual therapy are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People with congenital, traumatic, surgical, inflammatory, or infectious cervical/spinal conditions, diagnosed spinal deformities, certain neurological headache disorders, or recent cervical trigger-point injections may not benefit or be eligible.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If effective, the technique could provide immediate short-term pain relief and improved neck mobility as a non-invasive option for people with text neck.
How similar studies have performed: Some small trials and manual therapy research report short-term pain and mobility benefits from myofascial or soft-tissue techniques, but high-quality evidence specific to text neck is limited.
