What this trial studies
This study investigates the effectiveness of 'exercise-snacks,' which are very short and intense exercise sessions, in improving physical fitness among obese adolescents. The intervention is designed to be integrated into a multidimensional care program aimed at reducing sedentary behavior and promoting a more active lifestyle. Participants will engage in these brief exercise sessions in a school setting, which is considered an ideal environment for such interventions. The study will assess the impact of these exercise-snacks on physical fitness and overall health outcomes over a specified period.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are obese adolescents with a body mass index Z-score corresponding to stage 2 obesity who have not lost significant weight recently.
Not a fit: Patients with contraindications to physical activity or those currently participating in another clinical trial may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly enhance physical fitness and reduce obesity-related health risks in adolescents.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with similar short-duration exercise interventions in adults and adolescents, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
