What this trial studies
This observational study aims to establish a cohort of individuals with obesity (BMI >30 kg/m2) and control groups with lower BMI ranges to evaluate the prevalence of undetected obesity-related diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and sleep apnea. Participants aged 18 to 60 will undergo comprehensive health screenings and assessments at baseline, 1 year, and 5 years. Those identified with obesity-related diseases will be offered a personalized 12-month lifestyle intervention program to improve their health and self-perception. Additionally, a biobank will be created for future research purposes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18-60 with a BMI greater than 30 or those in specified control BMI ranges.
Not a fit: Patients outside the age range of 18-60 or with a BMI below 18.5 may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could lead to earlier detection and management of obesity-related diseases, improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in identifying obesity-related diseases through similar screening approaches, indicating potential for this study's effectiveness.
