Scenario-based simulation training for managing eclampsia in labor
Effect of Scenario-Based Simulation on Clinical Learning, Confidence and Satisfaction of Midwifery Students in Management of Eclampsia Crisis in Labor
NA · Ondokuz Mayıs University · NCT06870227
This project will test whether scenario-based, high-fidelity simulation training improves clinical learning, confidence, and satisfaction for midwifery students managing eclampsia during labor.

What this trial studies
Midwifery students who are enrolled in the Obstetric Emergencies course and volunteer will be randomly assigned by block randomization to one of two groups. An instructor will demonstrate eclampsia crisis management, then students will practice individual first-care skills using a high-reality simulator. Outcomes measured will include clinical learning scores, self-reported confidence, and satisfaction, compared between the experimental and control groups. The study is conducted at Ondokuz Mayıs University in Samsun, Turkey.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are volunteer midwifery students who are taking the Obstetric Emergencies course at Ondokuz Mayıs University.
Not a fit: Students who are not enrolled in the Obstetric Emergencies course or who already have extensive clinical experience with eclampsia are unlikely to gain additional benefit from this specific training.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the training could improve students' readiness and performance during eclampsia emergencies, potentially enhancing patient safety in labor wards.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies of high-fidelity simulation for obstetric emergencies have reported improvements in learners' skills, confidence, and satisfaction.
