What this trial studies

Adults with recent, uninfected mandibular angle fractures that require open reduction and internal fixation will receive either a single sagittal split plate or two conventional miniplates. Procedures and follow-up are conducted at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of Alexandria University. Outcomes will include fixation stability, healing time, need for postoperative immobilization, and complication rates such as infection or malocclusion. The trial compares these two fixation techniques to see which provides better clinical outcomes and fewer complications.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with recent, uninfected mandibular angle fractures that require open reduction and internal fixation and who are medically fit for surgery.

Not a fit: Patients with infection at the fracture line, pathological or old fractures, or those medically unfit for surgery are unlikely to benefit from this comparison.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the preferred plating technique could provide more stable fixation, faster recovery, and fewer postoperative complications for patients with jaw angle fractures.

How similar studies have performed: Previous clinical reports have compared single-plate and dual-plate fixation for mandibular angle fractures with mixed results, often showing comparable outcomes but no clear consensus.
