What this trial studies

This study aims to determine if rotating a stylet-loaded endotracheal tube (ETT) 180 degrees before insertion can reduce the incidence of postoperative throat soreness compared to standard intubation techniques. Patients will be randomized into groups, and experienced anesthesiologists will perform the intubations using specific equipment and techniques. Data will be collected postoperatively to assess throat soreness, ensuring that both patients and investigators are blinded to the intervention.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 to 90 who are ASA I-III and undergoing general anesthesia with ETT placement.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of difficult airways, those requiring intensive care, or undergoing surgeries involving the pharynx or larynx may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to less postoperative throat soreness for patients undergoing general anesthesia.

How similar studies have performed: While this specific approach is novel, similar studies have explored techniques to reduce postoperative complications, indicating potential for success.
