What this trial studies

This is a retrospective chart review of patients who first presented for transgender-related care before age 18 at Strasbourg University Hospital's child psychiatry and/or pediatric endocrinology services. Investigators will extract de-identified information from medical records, including demographics, clinical presentations, treatments recorded, and available follow-up data, for patients whose records are complete and who did not oppose reuse of their data. Patients with insufficient data or who objected to data reuse will be excluded. The analysis aims to describe care pathways and outcomes in this single-center cohort to inform local clinical practice and future research.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are people who first sought transgender-related care at Strasbourg CHU before their 18th birthday, whose medical records are available at the hospital, and who (or whose legal representative) did not object to reuse of their data for research.

Not a fit: Patients who first presented after age 18, who have incomplete medical records at CHU Strasbourg, or who objected to reuse of their data will not be included and therefore will not derive direct benefit from this analysis.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this work could clarify typical care pathways and short-term outcomes for transgender youth treated at a major French pediatric center, which may help clinicians and families make more informed decisions.

How similar studies have performed: Other retrospective cohorts of transgender youth have been published and provided descriptive insights into care patterns and short-term outcomes, but long-term, controlled evidence remains limited.
