Review of how to manage breast abscesses
Review of Breast Abscess Management
Methodist Health System · NCT06225180

What this trial studies
This study aims to identify risk factors associated with the failure of aspiration as a primary treatment for breast abscesses compared to incision and drainage. It focuses on the trend towards minimally invasive aspiration, which has shown better cosmetic outcomes but may lead to repeated procedures and increased patient discomfort. By analyzing data from patients with a new diagnosis of breast abscess, the study seeks to clarify which patients may benefit most from aspiration versus more invasive interventions. The findings could help optimize treatment strategies and improve patient care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with a new diagnosis of breast abscess.
Not a fit: Patients who are under 18 years of age, pregnant, or incarcerated will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective and tailored treatment options for patients with breast abscesses, reducing the need for repeat procedures and associated discomfort.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on aspiration for breast abscesses, this study aims to provide more definitive data on risk factors for treatment failure, making it a valuable addition to existing research.
