What this trial studies
This research collects blood, ulcer tissue, and fecal samples from patients with diabetic ulcers to analyze genetic markers linked to ulcer risk and healing. The study aims to integrate multi-omics data to create a prediction model for diabetic ulcer risk. By identifying key genetic variations and their regulatory pathways, the research seeks to discover new drug targets that could enhance healing, paving the way for personalized treatment approaches.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetic ulcers who are at least 55 years old or have had the disease for 10 years or more.
Not a fit: Patients with ulcers caused by non-diabetic factors or those with severe cardiovascular or organ dysfunction may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to more effective, personalized treatments for patients suffering from diabetic ulcers.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research in genetic markers for diabetic conditions, this specific approach integrating multi-omics data for diabetic ulcers is relatively novel.
