What this trial studies
This observational study aims to explore the genetic and environmental factors that contribute to healthy aging and longevity among families in the Netherlands. It focuses on individuals aged 75 and older, particularly those with a family history of exceptional longevity. The research will identify gene variants linked to healthy aging and examine the social, environmental, and behavioral influences on longevity and morbidity. By understanding these factors, the study seeks to uncover mechanisms that promote a longer, healthier life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are Dutch Caucasian individuals aged 75 and older, particularly those with a family history of longevity.
Not a fit: Patients who are younger than 75 or do not have a familial background of longevity may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to insights that enhance healthy aging and longevity for future generations.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in understanding the genetic and environmental factors of longevity, making this approach both relevant and potentially impactful.
