What this trial studies

This observational study focuses on bronchiectasis, a complex and heterogeneous lung disorder. It aims to identify different patient subgroups, known as phenotypes and endotypes, during stable disease and exacerbations. By analyzing clinical data, microbiological profiles, and inflammatory markers from up to 1000 patients, the study seeks to develop strategies for personalized medicine. The findings may help in validating biomarkers and identifying patient populations that could benefit from targeted treatments in future clinical trials.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults with a confirmed diagnosis of bronchiectasis who have been clinically stable for at least four weeks.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age or those with active tuberculosis or bronchiectasis due to cystic fibrosis may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective, personalized treatment strategies for patients with bronchiectasis.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored similar approaches in bronchiectasis, but this study aims to provide a more comprehensive understanding of the disease's heterogeneity.
