Research on breast cancer markers in tissue and fluid samples

Proteomics and Radiomics Research of Breast Cancer Markers in Tissue, Interstitial Fluid and Serum

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to identify distinct breast cancer profiles by comparing tissue interstitial fluid from breast cancer patients with adjacent non-cancerous tissue and benign breast lesions. It involves collecting fresh samples from patients undergoing surgery for breast nodules or newly diagnosed invasive breast cancer. The research will analyze these samples to discover proteomic markers that could lead to improved blood tests for breast cancer diagnosis and prognosis. Additionally, it will gather clinical and demographic data to enhance understanding of breast cancer outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who are undergoing surgery for indeterminate breast nodules or have newly diagnosed invasive breast cancer.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age or those with multiple synchronous primary malignancies from different organ systems may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to the development of more accurate diagnostic and prognostic blood tests for breast cancer.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using proteomics and radiomics for cancer marker identification, suggesting potential success for this approach.
