Renal embolization with EVOH for adults on dialysis with ADPKD
RADIOLOGICAL AND CLINICAL EVALUATION OF RENAL EMBOLIZATION USING EVOH IN DIALYSIS PATIENTS WITH AUTOSOMAL DOMINANT POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE: A PROSPECTIVE LONGITUDINAL OBSERVATIONAL STUDY
This study tests whether blocking blood flow to very large polycystic kidneys with the liquid embolic EVOH can shrink kidney size and reduce symptoms in adults on dialysis with ADPKD.

What this trial studies
This is a prospective longitudinal observational study of adults with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) who are on dialysis and undergo renal embolization using EVOH. Participants will have serial radiological follow-up, including MRI-based kidney volume measurements, alongside clinical monitoring for symptoms and complications. The study collects safety data and documents changes in renal volume and patient-reported outcomes over time without randomization or a control arm. Inclusion requires total kidney volume between 2000 and 5000 mL and the ability to undergo MRI.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 18–75 with ADPKD who are on dialysis, have a total kidney volume between 2000 and 5000 mL, have given informed consent, and are undergoing renal embolization are the intended participants.
Not a fit: People who cannot have MRI (incompatible implants, pacemakers, severe claustrophobia), those with kidney volumes outside the 2000–5000 mL range, or those not on dialysis are unlikely to benefit from this protocol.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the procedure could meaningfully reduce kidney volume and related symptoms, improving comfort and quality of life for dialysis patients with very large polycystic kidneys.
How similar studies have performed: Previous renal artery embolization case series have reported size reduction and symptom relief, but use of EVOH in dialysis patients with ADPKD is relatively novel and less well documented.
Eligibility criteria
