What this trial studies
This study evaluates the use of a remote monitoring tool, the Remote Check application, for cochlear implant patients to assess their hearing performance from home. Patients who have had their cochlear implants for over five years will use the app to conduct hearing tests, with results sent to their healthcare providers for evaluation. This approach aims to reduce unnecessary hospital visits and improve patient care by allowing for more frequent monitoring without the need for travel. The study is supported by recommendations from the French National Authority for Health to integrate telemonitoring into standard care.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 20 years old who have had a cochlear implant for more than five years and possess a compatible smartphone.
Not a fit: Patients with severe cognitive impairments or those unable to use a smartphone will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance patient convenience and improve the management of cochlear implant care.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in telemonitoring approaches for chronic conditions, suggesting potential success for this method in cochlear implant care.
