What this trial studies
This trial evaluates the effectiveness of remote blood pressure monitoring compared to standard care in patients receiving bevacizumab for cancer treatment. It aims to improve the collection of blood pressure data, enhance the identification and management of hypertension, and increase patient satisfaction. By utilizing cellular-enabled blood pressure cuffs, the study seeks to facilitate immediate communication of abnormal readings to healthcare providers, potentially improving patient outcomes and reducing caregiver burdens.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who are currently receiving bevacizumab treatment at the West Michigan Cancer Center.
Not a fit: Patients who are hospitalized, unable to understand English, or cannot take blood pressure readings at home may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to better management of hypertension in cancer patients, enhancing their overall treatment experience.
How similar studies have performed: While remote patient monitoring is a growing field, this specific approach in cancer patients receiving bevacizumab is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
