Registry of patients with eosinophilia affecting the respiratory system

Prospective Registry of Eosinophilia With Respiratory Manifestations With Translational Research Identifying and Characterizing Eosinophils

Observational Medical University Innsbruck · NCT04538937

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to create a registry of patients suffering from eosinophilic lung diseases, such as eosinophilic asthma and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis. It seeks to better understand the relationship between blood eosinophil counts and respiratory manifestations, as well as the potential for organ damage in conditions like hypereosinophilic syndrome. By characterizing different subtypes of eosinophils, the study hopes to clarify the clinical relevance of eosinophilia and improve therapeutic approaches. The study does not involve any interventions but focuses on collecting and analyzing patient data.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older with documented blood eosinophilia and evidence of respiratory tract damage caused by eosinophils.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age, pregnant individuals, or those with dementia or incapacitating conditions may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved understanding and management of eosinophilic lung diseases, potentially enhancing patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While the approach of characterizing eosinophils in respiratory diseases is not widely tested, there is ongoing interest in understanding eosinophilic conditions, suggesting potential for success.
