What this trial studies
This observational study collects data on patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to treat conditions of the extrahepatic biliary tract and pancreas. The study aims to document the procedures, outcomes, and any complications that arise during ERCP, which combines endoscopic and radiological techniques. It also allows for the collection of cyto-histological material for diagnostic purposes. The research is conducted at the ICH Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit, focusing on patients over 18 years old who require ERCP.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 who require ERCP for biliary or pancreatic conditions.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 or those unable to provide informed consent will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of ERCP outcomes and complications, leading to improved patient care.
How similar studies have performed: Similar observational studies have provided valuable insights into ERCP, suggesting that this approach is well-established and beneficial.
