What this trial studies
This observational study aims to create a longitudinal registry for patients diagnosed with Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis (SCFE), a common hip disorder in adolescents. It focuses on understanding the diagnosis and treatment options available, particularly the surgical methods that may lead to better long-term outcomes. By collecting data on various treatment approaches and their effects, the study seeks to identify parameters that can help in selecting the most effective interventions. The goal is to improve early diagnosis and reduce complications such as avascular necrosis and femoroacetabular impingement.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adolescents under 18 years old with a confirmed diagnosis of SCFE who plan to receive follow-up care at a participating center.
Not a fit: Patients over 18 years old or those without a definitive diagnosis of SCFE will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnosis and treatment strategies for SCFE, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been many studies on SCFE, this prospective registry approach is relatively novel and aims to fill gaps in existing research.
