What this trial studies
ReSECT is a nationwide prospective observational registry initiated by the Spanish Society of Thoracic Surgery. It aims to create a dynamic and inclusive database to enhance decision-making and quality of care in thoracic surgery. The registry will evaluate the implementation of new surgical techniques and technologies while providing a benchmarking tool for thoracic surgery outcomes. Participation can be at the individual level or by surgical departments, focusing on anatomical lung resections and other thoracic procedures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients undergoing any type of thoracic surgical intervention, particularly anatomical pulmonary resections.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse to participate in the registry will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could significantly improve surgical outcomes and decision-making in thoracic surgery.
How similar studies have performed: While similar registries have been implemented in other regions, the specific approach of ReSECT is novel in the context of Spanish thoracic surgery.
