Registry for monitoring small kidney tumors
The Delayed Intervention and Surveillance for Small Renal Masses (DISSRM) Registry

What this trial studies
This registry collects data on patients with small renal masses (≤4cm) to compare the safety and efficacy of active surveillance versus immediate intervention. Patients are enrolled and followed prospectively, with those on active surveillance undergoing regular imaging, blood tests, and quality of life assessments. The goal is to determine if active surveillance is a viable option for managing small kidney tumors without immediate treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with a solid, enhancing renal mass found incidentally that measures 4cm or less.
Not a fit: Patients with a suspicion of metastases or those diagnosed with another malignancy within the last two years may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a safer management option for patients with small renal masses, potentially avoiding unnecessary surgeries.
How similar studies have performed: Previous retrospective studies have indicated that active surveillance for small renal masses is safe, suggesting potential success for this prospective approach.
Eligibility criteria
