What this trial studies
This national, multi-centre registry in the UK aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of various metabolic and bariatric endoscopic procedures for treating obesity and its related complications. It will collect demographic, procedural, and follow-up outcome data from patients undergoing primary and revisional bariatric procedures, as well as primary metabolic procedures. The registry seeks to provide real-life outcomes and support the development of a research network for further innovation and training in metabolic and bariatric endoscopy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who are undergoing primary or revisional bariatric or metabolic endoscopic procedures.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone bariatric or metabolic endoscopic procedures outside the UK or those unable to provide informed consent may not benefit from this registry.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could lead to improved treatment options and outcomes for patients suffering from obesity and related health issues.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with similar approaches in evaluating endoscopic treatments for obesity, indicating potential for meaningful contributions to the field.
