Regen robot for assisting treadmill walking in healthy adults
Usability of the Regen Gait Therapy Robot in Healthy Adults
We will test whether the Regen gait robot is safe, easy to use, and can copy a therapist's walking movements in healthy adults walking on a treadmill.

What this trial studies
This project tests a robot-assisted device designed to replicate a therapist's lower-limb guidance during treadmill gait training. Healthy adults (ages 18–50) who can walk independently and licensed physical therapists with gait-rehab experience will take part in supervised treadmill sessions using the Regen device. The study will track safety events, feasibility of operation, usability via standardized questionnaires, and compare the robot's movement patterns to those produced by therapists using motion data. Findings will determine whether the device can reliably reproduce therapist motions and be used safely in clinical settings.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are healthy adults aged 18–50 who can walk on a treadmill for at least six minutes, along with licensed physical therapists experienced in gait rehabilitation to operate the device.
Not a fit: People with neurological or orthopedic conditions affecting walking, recent lower-limb surgery, current lower-limb pain, balance-impairing medications, open lower-limb wounds, or inability to walk six minutes are unlikely to be eligible or to benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the Regen robot could reduce therapist physical strain and enable more consistent, higher-dose gait practice for patients, potentially improving rehabilitation outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: Previous robotic gait-training devices have shown promise in delivering repeatable assisted practice and improving some rehabilitation outcomes, but many devices differ in function and the Regen's therapist-mimicking approach is relatively novel.
