What this trial studies

This study investigates how forming action plans can help reduce sedentary behavior among different age groups. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an active control group receiving education on sedentary behaviors and physical activity or an intervention group that will create action plans to replace sedentary activities with physical activity. The effectiveness of these interventions will be evaluated at two follow-up points: 2 months and 8 months after the intervention. The study will also assess changes in cognitive factors related to behavior change, such as self-efficacy and intention, using accelerometers to measure sedentary time and physical activity levels.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who do not meet the World Health Organization's physical activity guidelines.

Not a fit: Patients with existing diseases that contraindicate moderate intensity physical activity will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to effective strategies for reducing sedentary behavior, improving overall health and well-being.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that interventions focusing on action planning can effectively reduce sedentary behavior, suggesting this approach is promising.
