What this trial studies
Mom♥Health is a context-specific cardiovascular risk prevention program being pilot-tested at two childhood centers within NYU Langone’s Family Health Centers. The interventional pilot will enroll women aged 21–49 who are primary caregivers of children ≤5 years and who speak English, Spanish, or Mandarin. The program uses the pediatric center setting to engage mothers with tailored behavioral and educational components and will track changes in modifiable risk factors and engagement outcomes. Exclusion criteria include significant cognitive impairment and current participation in another behavioral clinical trial.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are women aged 21–49 who are primary caregivers of children five years or younger who attend the designated Family Health Centers childhood centers and who speak English, Spanish, or Mandarin.
Not a fit: Women with significant cognitive impairment, those currently enrolled in another behavioral trial, or mothers whose children do not attend the designated centers are unlikely to benefit or be eligible.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the program could help mothers lower modifiable cardiovascular risk factors and reduce future heart disease.
How similar studies have performed: Community-based behavioral interventions have shown modest improvements in cardiovascular risk factors, but delivering tailored prevention through childhood centers for mothers is a relatively novel approach with limited prior testing.
