What this trial studies
This research focuses on evaluating the effectiveness of a hospital-based violence intervention called Bridging the Gap for adults who have suffered violence-related injuries. Approximately 616 participants will be enrolled and randomly assigned to either receive the Bridging the Gap intervention or standard treatment. The intervention includes in-hospital support and six months of community case management services aimed at reducing violent behaviors and improving overall outcomes. Participants will also complete various assessments related to their experiences, behaviors, and mental health to better understand the intervention's impact.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are receiving treatment for violence-related injuries and are English-speaking residents within the designated catchment area.
Not a fit: Patients who are non-English speaking, under 18 years old, or incarcerated will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce rates of retaliatory violence and improve the overall safety and well-being of patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in similar interventions aimed at reducing violence among injured individuals, indicating potential for success in this approach.
