What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of two different interventions—watching cartoons and interacting with a robot cat—in reducing dental anxiety among children aged 6 to 10. The research aims to assess the levels of dental anxiety in children and identify factors contributing to it. By focusing on a population that is systemically and mentally healthy, the study seeks to provide insights into how specific interventions can alleviate anxiety related to dental procedures. The study will also consider the children's previous experiences and family background as potential influences on their anxiety levels.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6 to 10 who are systemically and mentally healthy and in need of restorative dental treatment.

Not a fit: Children with severe spontaneous pain or those requiring endodontic treatment may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce dental anxiety in children, leading to improved dental experiences and outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: While there is existing literature on dental anxiety in children, the specific combination of interventions used in this study is relatively novel.
