Reconstruction of knee osteochondral defects with autologous cartilage or collagen matrix: clinical and MRI outcomes

Descriptive Study of the Reconstruction of Osteochondral Lesions of the Knee: Clinical and Imaging Results

Not applicable Interventional Versailles Hospital · NCT03908931

What this trial studies

Adults who have undergone cartilaginous reconstruction of the knee using either autologous cartilage transplant or a collagen chondro-inducing matrix will be followed for clinical outcomes and MRI imaging. Clinical scores and imaging findings will be collected to describe the quality of repair tissue and patient function. The study excludes other cartilage reconstruction techniques and lesions outside the knee. Results will be reported descriptively to fill gaps in the current literature on these specific reconstruction methods.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older with an osteochondral defect of the knee treated with autologous cartilage transplant or a collagen chondro-inducing knee matrix are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients who had other cartilage repair techniques, who have lesions outside the knee, or who are under 18 are unlikely to benefit from this study's findings.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could help doctors choose reconstruction methods that lead to better knee function and clearer MRI signs of repair.

How similar studies have performed: Similar cartilage transplant and collagen-matrix approaches have shown promising but variable clinical and imaging results, and robust comparative data remain limited.
