What this trial studies
This observational study aims to reintroduce patients who have been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis C but have not received treatment back into the care pathway. It focuses on individuals who were lost to follow-up after their diagnosis between 2012 and 2022. The study will involve contacting these patients to understand the reasons for their disengagement from care and to facilitate their return to treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18 and older who have a positive HCV serology and either positive or unknown HCV RNA status.
Not a fit: Patients who have a positive HCV serology but negative HCV RNA or those who have previously eradicated the virus will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve treatment rates and health outcomes for patients with hepatitis C.
How similar studies have performed: While this approach is observational and focuses on re-engagement, similar studies have shown success in reconnecting patients with chronic conditions to care.
