What this trial studies

Fifty adults with multiple sclerosis will be randomized to a Quran-recital group or to continue usual care. The recital group will listen to Quran recordings for 30 minutes on an MP3 player three times per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) between 21:00 and 22:00 for four weeks, with weekly phone calls to check adherence. The control group will receive routine treatment with no additional intervention. Baseline measures and final outcome measures will be collected in person at the hospital at the end of week four to compare fatigue and mental well-being between groups.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18–80 with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis for at least six months, who can hear and wear headphones and are willing to be randomized and to follow the listening schedule, are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People with major psychiatric disorders, significant hearing problems, communication barriers, or those unwilling to follow the listening regimen are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this could provide a low-cost, non-drug way to reduce fatigue and improve mental well-being for people with MS.

How similar studies have performed: Some small studies of music, meditation, or religious audio interventions have shown mood or fatigue benefits, but randomized data specifically on Quran recital are limited.
