What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for patients with paraphilic disorders who are seeking help. It will assess whether CBT can reduce problematic sexual behaviors and psychiatric symptoms, as well as improve the quality of life for these individuals. Participants will engage in daily symptom reporting and undergo qualitative interviews to share their experiences and perceived obstacles to care. The treatment is designed to be completed within 12 weeks, with follow-up assessments conducted three months post-treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with paraphilic disorders who are seeking psychological treatment and are deemed likely to benefit from CBT.
Not a fit: Patients with concurrent mental health conditions that could interfere with the study or those currently undergoing other psychotherapeutic treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve the mental health and quality of life for patients with paraphilic disorders.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on CBT for paraphilic disorders, similar psychological interventions have shown promise in treating various mental health conditions.
