What this trial studies
This trial evaluates a trauma-adapted Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program (CSPAP) aimed at increasing physical activity opportunities for middle school students. Using a clustered stepped wedge design over three years, the study will implement a flexible, systems-level intervention that addresses barriers such as staffing and teacher training. The program focuses on five domains of physical activity within schools, ensuring that the unique needs of students who have experienced trauma are met. The goal is to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of physical activity initiatives in schools serving disadvantaged populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adolescents aged 11-14 who attend participating middle schools during the study period.
Not a fit: Patients who are outside the age range of 11-14 or do not attend the participating schools may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve physical activity levels and overall well-being for adolescents who have experienced trauma.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that comprehensive physical activity programs can have positive effects, but this trauma-sensitive approach is relatively novel and untested.
