What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to develop and test strategies to enhance HPV vaccination rates among parents and caregivers of children aged 9-17 in rural areas of the Mountain West. The study will implement a randomized controlled trial at four community clinics, utilizing tailored messaging based on input from patients and providers. Participants will receive different types of reminders to encourage timely vaccination, with the effectiveness of these interventions being assessed through completion rates of the HPV vaccine series. The study will also include qualitative interviews to gather insights from parents, caregivers, and healthcare providers.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are parents or caregivers of children and adolescents aged 9-17 who have visited a participating clinic in the last year and speak either English or Spanish.

Not a fit: Patients who have already completed the HPV vaccination series or have clinical conditions that exclude them from CDC recommendations may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce the incidence of HPV-related cancers in rural populations by increasing vaccination rates.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in increasing vaccination rates through tailored reminder interventions, suggesting that this approach may be effective.
