What this trial studies

This randomized controlled experimental study focuses on family members who care for hemiplegic patients hospitalized in two state hospitals in Turkey. The caregivers will be divided into an intervention group, which will receive progressive relaxation exercises, and a control group. The study aims to assess the impact of these exercises on the caregivers' burden and their sense of meaning in life. Participants will complete various scales to evaluate their experiences before, midway, and after the intervention period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are family members aged 18 or older who care for hemiplegic patients hospitalized for at least one month.

Not a fit: Patients who are not family members of the hemiplegic individual or those who have communication problems may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly reduce the caregiving burden and enhance the quality of life for caregivers of hemiplegic patients.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of using progressive relaxation exercises for caregivers may be novel, similar interventions have shown positive outcomes in reducing caregiver stress and improving well-being in other studies.
