What this trial studies

This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of two interventions, an educational Video-based Pain Program and an Empowered Relief Program, aimed at patients with chronic non-cancer pain who are on a waiting list for specialized treatment. The study is designed as a randomized controlled trial to assess the impact of these programs on pain catastrophizing and other patient-reported outcomes, including pain intensity and quality of life. Participants will be compared against a control group to evaluate the benefits of these self-management strategies during the pre-treatment period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who are fluent in Danish and have a scheduled appointment at a Multidisciplinary Pain Centre at least three months after study invitation.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive dysfunction, severe depression, or those currently using private pain services may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could empower patients to better manage their chronic pain and improve their quality of life while waiting for treatment.

How similar studies have performed: While there are few studies on pre-habilitation interventions for chronic pain, the incorporation of cognitive-behavioral programs in this context is relatively novel and untested.
